Saddleworth Film Society

Saddleworth Film Society (SFS) is a voluntarily run, not-for-profit organisation, proud to be part of the Saddleworth’s historic theatre venue and thriving arts community hub, the Millgate Arts Centre. SFS is a member of the British Federation of Film Societies now called Cinema for All.

Join Saddleworth Film Society

Like most film societies, Saddleworth Film Society (SFS) is a membership society. Legally, this means that we cannot show films ‘to the general public’, but we can show films to members. We welcome new members and encourage you to join. There are two options: Annual Membership and One-day Membership (Guest tickets).

Annual membership is the most cost-effective option at £55 and includes entry to all TEN films in the season. Joining this way not only saves you money but your support helps to guarantee the ongoing success of the society.

One-day Membership (Guest Tickets) cost £7 per screening, subject to availability. These memberships may be obtained in advance via TicketSource or on the evening of the screening from the theatre box office.

For Annual Membership, please send your name, address and email either electronically to saddleworthfilmsociety@gmail.com or a cheque by post to our Treasurer (address below).
Payment of £55 by bank transfer (preferred), to:
Lloyds Bank
A/c Name: Saddleworth Film Society
Sort Code: 30-95-42
Account: 00382433 (Please put your name and initials in the reference field.)

For those who do not use online banking, cheques will also be accepted. The cheque should be made payable to “Saddleworth Film Society” and mailed to:
The SFS Treasurer, Maudon Cottage, 2-4 Mason Row, Thurston Clough Road, Scouthead, Oldham, OL4 3RX

If you would like confirmation, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope or just come to the next film.

The Society meets at Saddleworth's historic theatre, the Millgate Arts Centre, Stoneswood Road, Delph OL3 5DY (what3words///they.clown.convinces. The Society normally opens its doors at 7:30pm unless otherwise stated. All films begin at 8pm. Long films begin at 7:30.

No adverts or trailers are shown but we have a 15-minute interval to allow for refreshments and socialising. Our Chair may make any relevant announcements before the start of the film. We also draw our very popular raffle just before the start of the second half of the film.

Free parking is available in the Millgate carpark opposite or along Millgate (street name). The postcode for the car park is OL3 5JG (what3words///dwarf.wished.composes). Please park considerately and avoid parking on Stoneswood Road. Thank you.

We publish a set programme for each season. Film selection is based on members' suggestions and research by the Society’s committee. The society aims to show a variety of mainly fairly recent art house films, many foreign language ones (subtitled!) and sometimes recent classics!

Feel free to send suggestions to our email address  saddleworthfilmsociety@gmail.com or our Facebook page.

The screen is approximately 7m x 3m. The projected film varies depending on media format.

The auditorium has a capacity of 160 on a fixed rake seating, which gives excellent visibility. All the seats have been fully modernised in the latest refurbishment. They are currently on a first come, first served basis.

You are welcome to join as a temporary member (£6.00 including film entry). You can buy tickets online TicketSource or at the box office in advance or on the night subject to availability.
