This is my first ever foray into acting! I am a frequent theatre-goer, but have never performed before, not even at school! So I decided to push myself well and truly outside my comfort zone and auditioned for Murder, Margaret and Me. Much to my surprise I got the part! I then spent a few days wrestling with every fibre of my being that was saying don’t do it . . . but here I am, playing the part of ‘the Spinster’. She’s really part narrator and part Margaret and Agatha’s conscience who sits on the sidelines, interjects and helps the play along.
Being alongside ‘seasoned actors’ has been an education and a pleasure, watching the play come alive thanks to Sue our director, whose patience, ‘teaching’ and shear hard work has been truly exceptional. I hope I’ve done The Spinster justice and that my fellow actors haven’t been too frustrated with the newbie who has learnt so much and who now has a much greater admiration for all those who tread the boards!
