DESCRIPTION:Jim Muirhead Jazz Quartet\nJim Muirhead – clarinet and saxophone\nRichard Weatherall – keyboard\nKen Marley – double bass\nDave Hassell – drums\nBy popular request Jim and his quartet are returning to play for the Saddleworth Concerts Society following their very successful debut with SCS in October two years ago. For this concert Jim has brought together three of the most sought after north west Jazz musicians. Richard Wetherall on keyboard is a jazz pianist, composer, and educator. He performs with his own trio and quartet as well as collaborating with many notable artists as well as teaching at Manchester University and Chetham’s Piano Summer School. Ken Marley on bass also plays bass guitar and is a composer and arranger Ken has been a professional for over 40 year and is renowned for his CD “Lookout” featuring his trio in which Richard Wetherall was the pianist. Dave Hassell has over 49 years experience as a studio player, live performer, band leader and author. He has played with many of the leading UK and American musicians. In 2002 Dave was appointed Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and in 2007 he was awarded the position of Visiting Fellow at Salford University.\nJim and the Quartet will be playing the great jazz standards from early-to-mid 20th century which include masterworks composed by legendary figures like George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein.\n \nExpect brilliant playing at an evening to remember.\n																\n															\n				\nSaddleworth Concerts Society\nFounded in 1975 by Roger Tanner, the Saddleworth Concerts Society enriches the lives of our community by programming FOUR CONCERTS PER SEASON, featuring top quality classical music and more.
