Delph Matters and Delph Christmas Lights
Delph at Christmas is something special. Each year, a team of dedicated local volunteers transform the village into a festive showpiece, with lights that line the streets, wrap around buildings, and create a proper winter atmosphere that draws people in from across Saddleworth. At the heart of it all is the much-loved Delph Elf — a handmade character that’s become a bit of a local legend, appearing in the run-up to the switch-on and capturing the imagination of kids and grown-ups alike. All of this is made possible through the amazing efforts of the Delph Matters Committee, along with generous donations from local residents and some very special local businesses who continue to support the village year after year. It’s more than just lights — it’s community, tradition, and that unmistakable feeling that Christmas has properly arrived in Delph.
