Worshipped opera singer… Renowned swordswoman… Flaming bisexual
JULIE: The Musical is a brand new, original musical telling the life and adventures of historical LGBTQ+ icon Julie D’Aubigny.
Julie D’Aubigny is down in history as one of the most chaotic characters to have ever lived – one of the first public figures to live as an openly bisexual woman, she seduced nuns, dueled multiple men at once, burnt down convents, was bribed by princes, innovated opera – all before she turned 30!
JULIE is a musical celebrating not only this extraordinary life, but also queerness, found family and carving a place for yourself in a world not built for you.
“Fierce, funny, fabulous!”
“Innovative, hilarious…looking forward to seeing this in the West End!”

NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
From the moment I heard the first scratchy recordings from the first R & D sessions over a year ago, I knew I was looking at smothering special and was delighted to be asked to direct.Working on this project has been such a joyful experience and that’s something I hope we’ve managed to bring to the stage. – Mary Barrett-Doyle
NOTE FROM THE WRITER
One of my favourite aspects of the show is that it’s a true story, Julie D’Aubigny was a real person, and while some of her motivations and characterisation are my invention (we’ll never know her true thoughts as they are lost to time), all of the events you see on stage are true and based on historical fact, so enjoy this story of one of history’s most chaotic characters, and the things she can teach us about living your best authentic self – Abey Bradbury
