‘Passionate Minds’ by Roger Hinchliffe

One of the jewels in the crown of the MAC is Saddleworth Concerts Society www.saddleworthconcertssociety.org.ukwhich is privileged to produce the theatre’s first performance of the new Season, its 45th. at the MAC. The SCS is renowned for engaging musicians of the highest quality who are already performing on the world stage of have the potential to do so. There are four productions, starting early this year on 11th. September with the Victoria Quartet and Richard Simpson, principal oboe of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Professor at the Guildhall School of Music; they will be performing chamber music by Beethoven,Lennox Berkeley (Oboe Quartet), Ravel and Mozart (Oboe Quartet).The very popular Chris Holmes Jazz Trio with John Hallam will be returning in November. Early in the New Year the Castalian Quartet, who are emerging as one of the success stories of the international music scene, will be performing music by Schumann, Janacek and Brahms To complete the Season in March, the A4 Brass Quartet, featuring principal players from some of the UK’s top brass bands  will be raising the roof in many senses.
