Words Among the Heather – Open Mic Poetry and Spoken Word Event
‘Words Among the Heather’ (a reference to Saddleworth’s most famous poet Ammon Wrigley’s book ‘The Wind Among the Heather’) is our second popular open mic poetry and spoken word event.

Audience members just £5 entry (in support of the Millgate Building the Future Fund).
Writers from Saddleworth and the surrounding area are welcome to share their poetry, spoken word, stories, local interest, monologues, etc. Each performer will get a friendly 5 minutes to read/perform to a warm and supportive audience of like-minded souls and local folk.
The event will take place in the Bar Studio of the Millgate Arts Centre.
Hi Lorraine, I am pleased to see you are having another poetry event at the MAC. I thorouhly enjoyed the last one and (of course) it was gratifying to find my own contribution well received. I was the first time I had read any of my rhymes to an audience other than to family. It has resulted in me frantically searching for the myriad scraps of paper, lost about the house over the years. One of the items is a short tale, which I wrote long before I had a computer , so I’ve tidied it up and it takes just 5 minutes to recite. I have also selected a couple of short peices should they be required. Looking forward to another enjoyable evening on friday the 7th.
