Mark Rosenthal is directing Clue
Many of you will have either seen the 1985 film starring Tim Curry or played the game, Cluedo, which as it happens is 75 years old this year. If you have, then you will definitely have heard of the iconic characters Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs White, Mr Green, Mrs Peacock and Colonel Mustard.
The play, Clue is a fast paced farce-meets-murder mystery with brilliantly written characters. The tale begins on a dark and stormy night at a remote mansion called Boddy Manor, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party. It’s a race against time to find the killer as the body count increases.
The cast and crew have really thrown themselves, sometimes literally but always enthusiastically, into the madness of my vision for the play. With the hilarious dialogue, ridiculous movement and repeated breaking of the ‘fourth wall’, you are in for a treat and what is to be a truly memorable evening that will leave you guessing until the very end.
So, was it Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with a wrench? or Miss Scarlet in the library with the candlestick? What about Yvette, the French maid and the cook?
Well, you’ll have to book a ticket to find out. I know you’re all ‘dying’ to see it!
Clue runs 21-28th September at Millgate Arts Centre
Clue is Mark’s directorial debut for Saddleworth Players but he has vast experience in other theatres and you have seen him on stage in Ben Hur, Alice, Moonlight & Magnolias and many more.
