After a string of sell-out shows, London’s prominent Jazz duo are making their debut at Millgate Arts Centre.
After launching their brand new album “A Thousand Nights” late last year, they are now touring the country. Recorded with a 55-piece orchestra in some of London’s most iconic studios, this album has already generated a lot of excitement. Their songs have already been played on BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM. The album features Jazz classics and songs written by Debono and Bates.
This tour features a quartet of vocals, piano, double bass and drums. Tickets will sell fast for this one as it is sure to be a night not to miss.
Helena Debono Bio
Helena Debono is an up and coming Jazz singer/songwriter from London.She has been captivating audiences with her emotional renditions of Jazz standards and her own original music. Her natural effortless vocals have already received acclaim amongst the UK Jazz scene and leaves audiences wanting to hear more. After being the lead vocalist for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra for 3 years, in 2021 Helena released her debut album ‘Right Here’ which has over 30k streams. Helena has performed at top venues across the UK, including Ronnie Scotts in London and many more. She is inspired by great vocalists, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Barbra Streisand and many more. Helena’s new album ‘A Thousand Nights’ in collaboration with Charlie Bates showcases Helena’s powerful vocals.
Charlie Bates Bio
Charlie Bates is a composer, arranger, orchestrator, songwriter and pianist from London, UK. A multi-award-winning artist (including an Ivor Novello Award 2020), Charlie’s music is always distinctive with its own sense of individuality while simultaneously drawing from influences as varied as jazz, classical and popular music. Still just 29, he is rapidly becoming one of the most sort after composers of his generation working with artists and orchestras across the UK and Europe. His latest album ‘A Thousand Nights’ highlights his long-standing collaboration with London based singer-songwriter Helena Debono and features his arrangements and compositions for an impressive 55-piece orchestra.
