Learning my lines in an ice bath!

Hi, I’m Siobhan Ebden and in the comedy Curtain Up! I play Pam the first wife, mother of Teresa and daughter in law of Betty. Pam is not always a very easy character to like though she is great to play as she has a sharp wit and some fantastic one liners.

I’ve been involved with Saddleworth Players for a few years, with some smaller roles in a couple of plays and open days. I take the lead on organising the props rota and I am very grateful to Ian Crickett and Nicole Richards for taking the props lead on this play, there are a lot and some are quite obscure, all sourced and ready for our play – well done team along with the whole of the backstage crew. Actors on stage are the visible face of our hobby but we would be lost without the set, costume, sound, lighting and back stage crew. We really do need everyone.

I have really enjoyed getting to know my fellow actors some of whom have played at the Millgate before and some new, I hope you find Saddleworth Players a warm and welcoming place to practice our shared love of the dramatic.

I have had some interesting experiences while learning my lines, from forgetting my script when I went on holiday and having to transcribe from my recordings to running my lines as a method of distraction in a Wim Hof style heat and ice experience. I wasn’t word perfect but I kept myself and my fellow ice bath participant entertained for each of our 5 minute dunkings.

Curtain Up! looks set to be a good night out, bring your friends, neighbours, relatives, we love a crowd and you never know who you might see . . .
