The props team for Saddleworth Players is looking for new members to support our future productions at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph. The team plays a vital role in helping to buy, make or borrow props that contribute to the continued success of our shows.
This voluntary role is fun, interesting and creative! You’ll be working with our directors, cast and backstage crew, including the wardrobe team and stage designers – an integral part of the wider production team. You’ll have the choice of supporting one or more of our five shows in a season.
As part of the props team supporting a production, you will need to:
- Read through the play
- Discuss with the director the prop requirements of the show, contributing your own ideas and suggestions – then make a props list
- Source props for the production – using our own props stores or by buying, borrowing, making or hiring items (all expenses are reimbursed)
- Attend rehearsals to understand how props will be used in the play
- During technical rehearsal week and run of the show, set out the props table backstage and provide support for any complex props
- Come for a drink in the bar after each show!
- Help to return and remove props the day after the closing performance
We’re a friendly and social group, always ready to welcome new members to help out with our shows.
If you are interested in joining our props team or want to find out more about the role contact Siobhan Ebden, our Props Coordinator, at saddleworthplayers@millgateartscentre.co.uk – or coming along to our props training session from 6-7pm on Monday 10 June at the Millgate Arts Centre.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Saddleworth Players community.
I have a real fur coat that belonged to my grandma. It is in immaculate condition and I wonder if you could use it for your wardrobe. I live in Delph.
